Vintage Thrift Store Finds

by The Organized Dream

I check out my local thrift store once in a while when I’m bored or if I am looking for something interesting. This past trip, I found some great things I wanted to share with you.

There wasn’t too much DIY involved with these things because they were perfect the way I found them.

This jug is great, isn’t it? I’ve seen similar ones online and always liked the look. Some of the jugs I’ve seen had a blue tint to them, and while I fancied them more, this was too good of a deal not to take. I snatched up this beauty for only $3. Great price, right?

I was searching through the thrift store book section and wasn’t too inspired by anything I saw. There were old books, but there was tape on them…not even vintage tape…packing tape! They were pretty, too, but I ended up grabbing this one instead. For a whole $1, I found one that was a little worse for wear and even had water stains. I thought that was a plus. (I have no idea what the book is about. Sort of afraid to open it and realize it’s good. I’ll never put it back!)

I went to their little “craft” section. I say craft in parenthesis because it was a hot mess, but I was able to find a wooden bead something-or-other. I’m not sure what it was meant for, but when I got home, I cut it apart and re-strung the beads on jute twine.
After getting everything washed, put together and at hand, I placed everything on my coffee table and added a candle and a simple boxwood orb for color.
Have you found anything exciting lately?

Thrift store shopping is really fun! I've only gone a few times looking for special vintage glassware, etc. It's almost like a treasure hunt. You never know what you're going to find!

I agree. I can be in a thrift store for so long because I feel like if I leave, I'll miss something.

I love thrift store finds. It is amazing what you can find there. I never buy housewares there, but after seeing these maybe I should this is a great haul.

Old books are one of my fave item to buy at thrift stores are garage sales, or even more at charity sales organized by libraries: you can find some rare gems! Loved all your findings 🙂

Yes! I think this book might have come from a library. A lot of the books I looked at were. Thanks!

Those were great finds!I love how you put everything together. So simple but elegant. I wish I could make something like that, but with an 18 month old grandson, everything will be off the table in record time.
