It’s no surprise that you may not have all the time in the day to dedicate to cleaning your home. You may be the type that cleans up a little everyday where you tidy up the high-traffic areas of your home like the kitchen, bathroom and living room or they type that tackles the whole house once a week. Regardless of your cleaning style, these smart ideas will help your home feel cleaner constantly.
1. Make Your Bed
It may seem redundant to make your bed everyday when you’re just going to mess it up again at night. I have heard this from quite a few people who give me “the look” when I say I make mine everyday. Despite the fact that it may seem pointless, making your bed can instantly make your bedroom go from a complete mess to neat and tidy. (Even if you have an overloaded hamper in the corner!)
2. Corral Countertop Clutter
If you want to instantly tidy a room, whether it’s the bathroom or the kitchen, placing a tray on your counter or vanity will provide a space for perfume bottles and other toiletries as well as small kitchen items. It will make those need-at-hand items look less cluttered and more like they have a purpose.
3. Make Your Home Smell Clean
By adding an essential oil diffuser to a room (or multiple rooms), you can easily freshen up a room and make it smell clean. Some basic essential oils great for improving your home’s smell are lemon, tea tree and eucalyptus. Want to read more on the benefits of essential oils in your home? 4. Add Style to Your Sofa
Creating a stylized couch, chair or sitting area in general can create the look of an organized, clean space. Instead of crumpled pillows in the corner of your couch, place them with purpose and add interesting, yet tailored designs and patterns. It will not only add visual interest to a room, but instantly make the space look cleaner.
5. Hide the Little Things
Never underestimate the power of a basket. It doesn’t matter if you add it to a bookshelf, a shelf on your entertainment center or on top of your coffee table, adding a basket to corral remotes and other little things prevents them from looking like they’re just thrown around. Baskets can also conceal other items like DVDs, magazines and video game equipment while still keeping them accessible.
