Pairing prints doesn’t have to be scary. Today, I have a few tips for you to use when trying to get the perfect look in your home to help you feel more confident when choosing patterns.
The one thing you want to keep in mind when starting to pair prints is to make sure you start small. Don’t overdo it. It’s a tricky thing to get the hang of at first and no one wants to waste money, right?
Find Your Theme
Start off by picking your theme. There are quite a few out there so the decision may take some time. You really want to put a lot of thought into it. Do you want to go the farmhouse, country look? How about something super modern and fun? Bright and bold?
Once you’ve picked it, Start looking at the room and decide what it is you want to add whether it’s pillows, a new rug, paint or wallpaper, etc.
Pick your colors and make sure that the boldest pattern you choose is the dominant one. Everything else should be in a similar shade. Making sure the same pattern repeats is key to the room looking cohesive.
Break It Up
By adding large solid colors like chairs and sofas will give the person looking at the room the opportunity to absorb and appreciate the bold prints you’ve picked. Having larger pieces of furniture in a solid color is also a great idea because rugs, curtains and pillows are easy to swap out when you want to change the look again.
