I love to organize and I love to organize on the cheap even more and if you’ve followed my blog for a while, you probably know that by now. 🙂 I’m going to show you in this post how I’ve organized my daughter’s desk using inexpensive items and spending under $20.
Organizing a Study Space on the Cheap
Organizing this space was rather difficult. My daughter is sort of a pack rat and wants to always keep everything. This is my solution to organize it and keep it functional. It’s not exactly the way I want it yet and I still have to find the perfect lamp, but this is how is it so far. 🙂
The drawer is where she keeps all of the basics: pencil sharpeners, extra pencils, scissors, etc. The Disney Princess pouch holds her eraser collection.
This milk jar holds some pretty flowers. It has nothing to do with organizing but what little girl’s desk wouldn’t be complete without some?
These boxes were purchased at Ikea a few years ago and originally held her DVD collection but when the desk came in, the TV went out and her collection moved it’s way into the living room. (She didin’t need a TV anyway!) These boxes work wonders to store her markers, crayons and calculators on the left and her small craft stuff on the right. They sit well on the shelf to her desk, tucked away and ready to use when needed.
On her desk is her tablet and computer. Usually it is stored somewhere else, but she had recently used them.
Her bulletin board usually has a lot of her awards and memos for school, but I removed them for obvious reasons. Those butterfly lights look so great when lit. You can find them at the Dollar Tree. 🙂
Her most used pencils are stored on top of the desk in this pretty scrolled pencil holder and sits next to her teddy bears and painting.
The hardest part to organizing her stuff neatly as possible was her coloring books, notebooks, magazines and catalogs. If this girl could keep every American Girl catalog she ever got, she would. It took time for her to pair down.
Below, I’ve included where to purchase the items I’ve used. It literally cost me less than $20 to get it done and she loves it!
Stay in the loop!
