Ideas to Help You Feel Better in 2021

With every new year comes new possibilities and new chances to practice self-care. As the pandemic rages on, it’s easy to fall into a slump of anxiety and confusion, but we’re sharing with you ideas that can help you love yourself that little bit more this year because, let’s face it, you deserve it.

  1. Get your teeth professional cleaned

There’s nothing quite like feeling confident about your smile. When you smile, you release dopamine, which lifts your mood, so why not use 2021 as the opportunity to change that if you don’t currently love your smile? Family dentists like Biltmore Avenue Dentistry offer all your usual services, as well as teeth scaling (deep cleaning) or bleaching trays to use at home if you’ve always wanted that Hollywood smile.

  1. Treat yourself to a full body massage

Massages are the perfect way to give back to your body. After months of hard work and stress, there’s nothing better than releasing all the tension from your muscles and starting afresh. Ask your partner to give you a massage or book an appointment with a professional.

  1. Go on a power walk

Exercise can help you feel better in more ways than one. Not only will it help you on your mission to lose weight and become fit, but you will also feel better in general. Exercise, similarly to smiling, boosts your mood with the release of endorphins. This, in turn, can reduce any stress you are feeling.

If you don’t like walking, why not consider taking up swimming? This low-impact exercise can be a great way to kickstart your exercise routine, but it can also be a fun activity that you can do with your friends and loved ones.

Top tip: If you are trying to lose weight, don’t feel the need to weigh yourself constantly. You don’t need that negativity.

  1. Dedicate half an hour in the day to you

With families to look after, jobs to manage, and a house to keep tidy, it’s easy to let time slip away. According to Adrienne Herbert’s book, Power Hour, you can change your life with an hour a day. But as we know, an hour is hard to find, we’re suggesting dedicating just 30 minutes for some ‘me-time.’ You could choose to take a long, hot bath or head to the salon for a wash, cut, and blowdry to help you feel fabulous. It could be dedicated to activities that don’t require electrical devices. So put your phone on mute, switch off the TV and try your hand at knitting, jigsaws, painting, and more. Even taking the time to create an evening skincare regime while listening to your favorite songs can really make a difference.

  1. Write a backward to-do list

Write down everything you’ve done today, rather than everything that needs doing. Even the smallest things can make it to the list. This will help you feel like you’ve achieved more. Write down everything from what you made for lunch, whether you made the bed, the self-care ‘me time’ activity you did, and more.

Find time for yourself in 2021. Last year was really tough, but we made it through. It’s time to look after your mental and physical health and general happiness.
