Homemade Brownie Recipe

by katie

So, I don’t know about you, but I’m getting kind of fed up with buying certain things from the grocery store. I mean, groceries themselves aren’t getting any cheaper so it seemed the time for me to try the “from scratch” route. Now, I know, you’re probably thinking. You’re thinking brownies aren’t that expensive. On the right week, my grocery store offers 10 for $10 deals and most of the time, brownie mix is one of them. But have you ever looked at the ingredients? Seriously, though, have you? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but I would rather save that dollar for an apple or another produce item. Especially when the ingredients for this recipe were in my kitchen already. There’s nothing different to this recipe’s preparation and they’re super delish so what are you waiting for? Give them a try today! 🙂

The wet and dry ingredients are separated for you because you can store the dry mix in a container or Ziploc bag until ready to use to save on the prep time.
Dry Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
I stored my dry batch in the container with the red lid pictured below.
The Wet Ingrediets:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix all of the ingredients together until creamy like pictured above. I added M&M’s. This is optional.

Bake the brownie mix in an 8×8 or 9×9 pan at 350F for 20-25 minutes. Don’t forget the Pam! Ovens vary. My brownies were done in 20 minutes.
And there you have it, a great recipe that took about a half hour to do (dry mix already prepared).
Bon appetit!
