Who doesn’t love a good dessert treat? I have a homemade brownie recipe for you that will make you never want to use those store bought mixes ever again.
So, I don’t know about you, but I’m getting kind of fed up with buying certain things from the grocery store. I mean, groceries themselves aren’t getting any cheaper so it seemed the time for me to try the “from scratch” route. Now, I know, you’re probably thinking. You’re thinking brownies aren’t that expensive.
On the right week, my grocery store offers 10 for $10 deals and most of the time, brownie mix is one of them. But have you ever looked at the ingredients? Seriously, though, have you? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but I would rather save that dollar for baking ingredients and get more for the money in the end. Especially since the basic baking ingredients for this recipe can be used for so much more!

The wet and dry ingredients are separated for you because you can store the dry mix in a container or Ziploc bag until you’re ready to use it. This will help save on the prep time. I store my batches in a basic pourable plastic container.
The Dry Brownie Ingredients
For the dry brownie mix, you will need 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/3 cupf of cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. Mix all of these together and store in the container of your choice.
The Wet Brownie Ingredients
For the wet ingredients, you will need 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Baking Your Brownies
Whether or not you decide to make it all at once or mix the dry with the wet afterwards, simply add all of the ingredients together with a wire wisk. Once mixed, simply spray your 8″x8″ or 9″x9″ pan with cooking spray or butter.
Pour the mix into the pan and bang on the counter to level it. Place in the oven at 350°F for 20 minutes. Check your brownies to see if they are done by inserting a toothpick or the tip of a knife into the center. They’re done when it comes out clean.
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/3 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- Cooking Spray or Butter
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8"x8" or 9"x9" pan with cooking spray or butter.
Mix all of the ingredients together in a mixing bowl with a wire wisk.
Pour the mixture into the pan and bang the pan on the counter to level the batter.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes or a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan comes out clean.
Allow to cool and cut into squares.
You can add chocolate chips, Reese's Pieces, M&M's and more to add an extra-chocolately surprise!
