For quite some time, I’ve been wanting to get back into reading. I used to sit for hours and get lost in a book. Often, I’d be 3/4 of the way done with a brand new novel before I realized it was 2 a.m.! The only way that I feel I can really find time is to make a space that I’d WANT to be in. The solution? A cozy reading space.
There are some key pieces needed to create the perfect reading space and that’s a chair, a lamp, a table, pillows and a cozy blanket.
I’ve had a recliner in my bedroom that, well, pretty much gets used as a clothing chair. We all have one of these, am I right? Some chair in our bedroom or other corner of the house that seems to be a catch-all for coats, shirts, purses, you name it!
I moved it to an empty corner of my bedroom and added a fuzzy fur throw blanket and a few throw pillows that coordinate with the rest of my room. If you have been following this little ole’ blog of mine for a while, then you know exactly how obsessed I am with throw pillows! I think 2 on this chair may look like too much, but not to me! 😊
This wooden filing cabinet doubles as a side table for drinks and accessories.
The final touch was to find a lamp to fit the space and provide ample light for reading. This pretty piece, called the Montage, came from Brightech. The 9.5 watt LED bulb gives off just the right amount of light for reading comfortably and since it’s an LED bulb, won’t have be be replaced for 20 years! Cool, right? It also fits well with my other decor because it has a modern farmhouse style that I love.
Because the power switch is on the floor, I am able to tuck it away in this corner and still be able to turn it on easily without having to reach over the chair to do so. It has a slender design so that I can move it from room to room to switch things up. I find this a plus because I tend to move things around and redecorate often.
I really love the way my new reading space came out and can see myself sitting here for hours reading for sure!
