Bright and Organized Hallway Mood Board

by katie

I’ve been thinking for a while about updating, reorganizing and redecorating my hallway. I don’t have much to store away, but sometimes I find that the shoes and coats get a little out of hand. It’s something we’ve been struggling with since day 1. Today, I wanted to share a mood board I created with ideas I have in mind that {hopefully} will work easy-peasy.

The color theme I am going with is the classic grey, black and yellow. I feel like this color combo is the perfect mix of dark and light. I know I definitely want something to store odds and ends in so a storage bench seems like the perfect solution. I have yet to find one I really like, but this one has the perfect dark wood finish I love. I really like the look of layered door mats, too. I’m thinking of this combo that includes buffalo plaid because that pattern is still one of my favorites. It would also add visual interest.

My hallway is sort of dark most of the day and adding a bright greenery wreath to my door seems fitting. I also have a love for the lemon trend so I definitely would like to include some of those instead of any sort of floral. I think that I may opt to make my own. Lastly, I would like to add hooks to the wall. This would be a great place to store umbrellas and coats that are soaked from the rain. It would make a load of difference since we tend to track puddles in the house. I think that finding the right hook system is key. I would prefer to hang them with some sort of Command adhesive to avoid adding any holes in the walls.

Other Ideas

I am also considering other ideas as well. Instead of a storage bench, I might opt for a shoe rack. Ultimately, as long as I have a place to store our shoes, I can easily find other places for everything else I need to tuck away.
