It’s very likely there are a few places around your home that collect clutter including the stairs. Since stairs are a high-traffic spot, you can easily nix this area as a dump-zone and create an organized space for important things when running out the door. I have 3 ways to organize around your staircase you’ll want to try!
Add A Table
A simple console table or small table at the bottom of the stairs is a great way to corral go-to necessities in one place. Use things like small baskets for keys and wallets. You can also use decorative paper trays for homework or mail. You can also try bins underneath to store scarves, purses and even pet leashes and clothing.
Add A Bench
Benches come in various sizes and will fit great against the railings for extra storage. They can also add a convenient place to take off shoes. Storage benches with bins or drawers are a great option to store backpacks, purses, and other outdoor gear. If you’re not sure whether or not a bench will fit, mark the size of your area with painter’s tape. This will help to ensure that it won’t be in the way because great organizing solutions only work if they’re functional in everyday living.
Organize with Baskets
If you’re tight on space and don’t have the option to add an extra piece of furniture, try adding a basket. A simple basket or two on the stairs will not only remind you and your family of important things they’ll need when they leave, but they will also serve as a reminder of things that need to be put away.
